Hong Kong bourse carried forward yesterday’s sharp 3%+ rally, though the HSI opened slightly lower by 4 points this morning (27th) on futures settlement day. The index swiftly reversed course, breaking above the 24,000-level in early trading, peaking at a 288-point gain to hit 24,076, its highest in about three years, before meeting impasse. It later moderated to 23,685 in last print, down 101 points or 0.4%, with a turnover of HK$140.984 billion.

Automakers surged, with standout performer XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) climbing to a record high of HK$58.7 earlier today. It last posted at HK$57.3, up 1.8%, with a turnover of HK$7.979 billion. Xiaomi Chairman Lei Jun posted on Weibo, praising the strong product appeal of the new Xiaomi SU7 Ultra electric vehicle and expressing the team’s 90% confidence in achieving the 10,000-unit annual sales target. Meanwhile, BYD COMPANY (01211.HK), which recently announced smart driving technology for its key models, hit an all-time high of HK$408.8 and was last at HK$397, up 1.9%, with a turnover of HK$2.781 billion.

NIO-SW (09866.HK) outshone peers, soaring 10.5% to HK$38.4, with a turnover of HK$264 million. XPENG-W (09868.HK) proliferated as much as 10.2% to peak at HK$90, its highest in about 18 months, before paring back its gains, and last printed at HK$86.55, up 5.94%, with HK$1.79 billion in turnover.

Furthermore, LI AUTO-W (02015.HK) peaked with a 7.5% gain but eased to HK$131.2, up 1.9%, with HK$2.104 billion traded. GEELY AUTO (00175.HK) spiked as much as 7.3% before settling at HK$18.58, up 3.8%, with a turnover of HK$1.469 billion. Other autos, including LEAPMOTOR (09863.HK), DONGFENG GROUP (00489.HK) and GWMOTOR (02333.HK) rallied between 2.5% and 3.9%. Auto dealer ZHONGSHENG HLDG (00881.HK) also advanced 4.2%.
