HK Mar Retail Sales Craters 7% YoY, Far Below Forecasts

The value of total retail sales in March 2024, provisionally estimated at $31.2 billion, decreased 7% YoY, as compared with the market's original expectation of an increase of 0.9%, according to the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD)'s announcement. The revised estimate of the combined value of total retail sales in January and February 2024 increased by 1.4% compared with the same period a year earlier.
