European stocks descended in the early session along with U.S. stock futures and Asian equities. Global tech stocks slumped after a Chinese AI model, DeepSeek, topped Apple (AAPL.US)’s US App Store's download chart, prompting the market to question about demand for capital investment in AI.

The pan-European STOXX 600 dipped 4.07 points, or 0.8%, to 526. FTSE 100 sank 25 points or 0.3% to 8,476. DAX dived 261 points or 1.2% to 21,133. CAC 40 lost 73 points or 0.9% to 7,854. IBEX 35 dropped 24 points or 0.5%.

As to individual stocks, photolithography maker ASML stumbled 8%. Chipmaker Infineon cratered 4.4%. STMicroelectronics lost 2.5%. Energy solutions provider Schneider Electric plunged more than 7%.

U.S. stock futures slipped, with DJIA futures down 490 points at 44,112; S&P 500 futures down 113 points at 6,020; and Nasdaq 100 futures down 659 points at 21,252.
