The International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS) returned to China this year after 19 years, according to Chinese media.

A representative from MEITUAN-W (03690.HK)'s Meituan Academy of Robotics Shenzhen (MARS) said that, over the past year, the MARS has accelerated its pace of innovation, continuously investing in key areas such as low-altitude logistics and embodied intelligence, and striving to efficiently transform cutting-edge academic exploration into feasible industrial value.

In terms of drones, MEITUAN-W, in collaboration with International Digital Economy Academy (IDEA), made significant progress in developing an intelligent obstacle avoidance system. This includes upgrading the cloud visual large model, which improved the recall rate by nearly 30 ppts when identifying complex aerial targets such as kites, balloons and cranes, while reducing the false predicted rate to 0.68%.

In addition, the MARS collaborated with professors from Tsinghua University and other universities to research dexterous hands. Of which, research outcomes such as task-oriented optimization design and operation technology research for embodied dexterous hands have been included in top international conferences in the global robotics field, such as IROS, and are expected to soon be implemented in MEITUAN-W's local life service scenarios.
